In Niger State, Mohammed Abba Yahaya, a 26-year-old resident of Tungan-goro, Minna, has been apprehended by the police for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Hussena Sani.

The incident, which occurred on May 29, 2024, involved Yahaya reportedly inflicting serious injuries on Hussena Sani, 25, following an argument that escalated into a physical altercation.

According to SP Wasiu Abiodun, the Public Relations Officer of the Niger State Police Command, the assault was reported at Chanchaga Division on May 30, 2024. Yahaya was arrested on July 1, 2024, after allegedly punching Sani in the face during a confrontation over her whereabouts.

“The suspect claimed he saw his female friend being dropped off by a vehicle at Tungan-goro and questioned her about it. When he didn’t receive a satisfactory response, an argument ensued, leading to the assault,” Abiodun explained.

Following the incident, Sani was promptly taken to the hospital for medical treatment, while Yahaya has been transferred to the Police headquarters for further investigation and potential prosecution.

The Niger State Police Command continues to urge the public to refrain from resorting to violence and to seek amicable resolutions to conflicts through peaceful means.
