In a heartfelt revelation on the ‘Talk To B’ podcast, Nollywood legend Binta Ayo Mogaji, famously known as Mama Insurance, opened up about her journey to motherhood, sharing the emotional and physical hurdles she overcame to have her first child at 40.

Mogaji, beloved for her roles in numerous Nollywood classics, recounted a harrowing experience with an ectopic pregnancy that led to the removal of one of her fallopian tubes. The surgery was a life-or-death situation, lasting between seven to nine hours, during which her survival was uncertain. Despite this major setback, Mogaji’s resilience shone through.

“I remember the doctors saying they weren’t sure I’d survive until the next day. They took me to seven different hospitals before the surgery,” she shared. “My colleagues who visited me in the hospital were in tears.”

She candidly discussed her decision to focus on motherhood rather than marriage. “I stopped looking for a husband; I wanted to make a baby. I decided that if I didn’t have a child by 40, I would adopt.”
