Nigerian doctor and visual artist, Dr. Fola David, has achieved an extraordinary feat by setting a new world record for the largest painting created by an individual. His masterpiece, titled “Unity in Diversity,” beautifully depicts Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups through their distinctive attire, languages, culture, and artistic expressions.
After four days of relentless effort, Dr. David surpassed the previous record of 629.98 square meters, set by India’s Ravi Soni. On Friday, he shared his excitement on Instagram, writing: “Congratulations to us all. On Day 4 at 9 p.m., we broke the current record of 629.98 square meters, but we are not yet done! The goal is to get over 1000 square meters of canvas covered in drawings; we are currently at 689 square meters. Let’s Go!”
The location has become a vibrant hub for art enthusiasts and supporters rallying behind Dr. Fola David as he makes history. Among those showing their support are former presidential candidate Peter Obi and former world record holder Hilda Baci.
Additionally, Professor Olufemi Fasanmade, Dean of Student Affairs at the University of Lagos, and other university officials visited to present an award to Dr. David, recognizing his contributions to promoting art as an esteemed alumnus of the school.
