A shocking crime in Adamawa State has led to the arrest of Yahaya Balarabe, a 25-year-old man accused of murdering his close friend, Usman, and stealing his motorcycle along with N20,000 in cash. The brutal attack occurred on July 17, 2024, and has left the community reeling.
According to a statement from Police Public Relations Officer Suleiman Nguroje, Balarabe lured Usman to his farm under the pretense of assisting with herbicide spraying. Once there, Balarabe allegedly attacked Usman with a cutlass, inflicting fatal injuries to his head before disposing of the body in a gutter.
The crime was discovered after Usman’s family reported him missing, prompting a police investigation. Law enforcement quickly identified Balarabe as the primary suspect based on material evidence recovered from the crime scene. Balarabe later confessed to the murder, admitting that his motives were to obtain Usman’s motorcycle and cash.
The arrest was met with relief from the local community and law enforcement officials. Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris praised the Ganye Divisional Police headquarters for their swift and effective handling of the case, ensuring that justice would be served.
