The Ogun State Police Command has detained Yetunde Gbadebo, a 25-year-old woman, for allegedly attempting to sell her three-year-old daughter. The arrest occurred on Aladiye Street in Sagamu on July 25, 2024, around 10:00 AM.

According to police sources, Gbadebo was caught negotiating a sale price of N700,000 with a 38-year-old man, Sunday None. The deal was reportedly disrupted after a resident witnessed the negotiation and alerted the police.

Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed that while Gbadebo denied the allegations, None has admitted to the crime. The Sagamu Division dispatched detectives to the scene, leading to the arrest of both individuals.

The case will be forwarded to the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation once initial findings are completed.

This incident echoes a similar case from January 2024, where Chinyere Chukwu was arrested in Anambra State for attempting to sell her two sons, aged nine and seven. In that case, Chukwu conspired with her daughter to sell the children to an undercover official posing as a buyer.
