U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has officially clinched the Democratic Party’s nomination for the 2024 presidential election.

According to Fox News, the formal nomination process began with a virtual roll call on Thursday. Harris, who will be the party’s standard bearer, expressed her gratitude and excitement, stating, “I am honored to be the presumptive Democratic nominee,” during a call with supporters.

This milestone follows President Joe Biden’s recent decision to end his re-election campaign, with Biden endorsing Harris as his successor. The Democratic National Committee’s electronic voting process for the 2024 nominee, which began this week, is set to wrap up on Monday, ahead of the party’s convention starting August 19 at the United Center in Chicago.
