In Abuja’s Karu area, security forces intervened to disperse protesters this morning, resulting in the arrest of three individuals.

Witness Ibrahim Sani reported that the police used tear gas to manage the situation and break up the assembly. “I was surprised to see a gathering in Karu when I expected it to be in the city center. The police used tear gas to disperse the crowd and detained about three people,” Sani said.

Security operatives are now heavily deployed across the Federal Capital Territory to monitor and maintain order amid ongoing nationwide protests. The increased police presence has also led to heightened vehicular traffic, while government offices remain largely vacant.

The Federal Secretariat remains open, but many officials from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) have not returned to work, possibly due to concerns over potential clashes with protesters.

In a related development, tear gas was also deployed at the Moshood Abiola Stadium as security forces sought to control protesters who were attempting to move their demonstration closer to the city center.

The situation in Abuja remains tense, with authorities on high alert to prevent further unrest.
