The Imo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has pledged full support for the “Information Not Disinformation” campaign, an initiative launched by the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Imo State Council. This commitment was expressed by Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma during a meeting with NUJ leaders at the Command’s headquarters in Owerri on Tuesday.

During the meeting, CP Danjuma praised the Correspondents’ Chapel for spearheading the campaign, which aims to combat the spread of false information and improve security through accurate reporting. He emphasized the critical role that truthful information plays in maintaining peace and stability in the state, describing the campaign as a “people-oriented” initiative that aligns with the police’s mission to protect citizens.

“We at the Nigerian Police remain committed to ensuring the security of Nigerians. Any effort to tarnish the good work of the government through disinformation will be met with great resistance. We understand the importance of accuracy in information dissemination and the dangers associated with disinformation. That is why we are ready to partner with you going forward,” Danjuma stated.

In response, Comrade Chinonso Alozie, Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for his time and for endorsing the partnership, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the media and security agencies in fostering a safer Imo State.
