The Imo State Government has taken decisive action against tax evasion by sealing eight prominent hotels and apartments in the state capital. This operation was conducted on Wednesday, 14th August 2024, by the Debt Management and Enforcement Department of the Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS), targeting establishments that failed to meet their tax obligations.

The affected properties include Lavianto Hotel, Titanic View Hotel and Suites Ltd, Heroes Luxury Apartment, Zoey International Hotel, Benconn Hotel, Hotel Ibis Royale, Hotel Arizona Ltd, and Zeeworld Hotel. These businesses were found in violation of the state’s tax remittance regulations, prompting immediate enforcement actions.

The IIRS has emphasized its commitment to ensuring tax compliance, stating that the crackdown is part of a broader initiative to achieve maximum tax compliance within the state.
