In response to the one-month sit-at-home order declared by Simon Ekpa’s Biafra Liberation Army of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Imo State Police Commissioner Aboki Danjuma has taken decisive action by deploying heavy security forces to all areas targeted by the group. The sit-at-home, scheduled from August 28 to September 28, has raised concerns across the state, prompting the police to intensify security measures.
To reassure state government employees of their safety, Commissioner Danjuma personally led a team of officers to the state secretariat on Wednesday. During his visit, he engaged with civil servants, assuring them of the Command’s unwavering commitment to their protection. “We are fully prepared to ensure your safety,” Danjuma emphasized, as he outlined the police’s strategy to maintain peace and order.
The Commissioner revealed that well-equipped operatives have been mobilized, with enhanced security strategies in place to safeguard not only the secretariat but all critical areas across the state. “This strategic move underscores the Command’s dedication to upholding peace and security throughout the state,” Danjuma stated, reinforcing the police’s readiness to counter any threats posed by the sit-at-home directive.
The move has been welcomed by many in Imo State, who are concerned about the potential disruption to daily life and the safety of residents. As the situation unfolds, all eyes are on the effectiveness of the security measures in place and the response of the local population to the prolonged sit-at-home order.
