Officer David Sangokoya of the Nigerian Air Force has been awarded the prestigious International Sword of Honour for 2023 at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell (RAFCC) in the United Kingdom. This honour was conferred upon him after his exceptional performance in the Modularised Initial Officers’ Training (MIOT) Course 22, where he emerged as the Best International Cadet.

The award, a recognition of excellence among international cadets, was presented by His Royal Highness, Prince William, on behalf of King Charles III, at the Royal Graduation ceremony on September 12, 2024. This accolade is a testament to Sangokoya’s dedication, focus, and exceptional performance throughout his training from March to September 2023.

In response to the honour, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, the Chief of the Air Staff, expressed his pride in Flying Officer Sangokoya’s achievement, noting that this recognition reflects not only on the officer but also shines a positive light on the Nigerian Air Force and the nation as a whole. Air Marshal Abubakar also commended Sangokoya’s family for their unwavering support during his training.
