Anthonia Uche-Anya, the newly appointed Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State, has officially resumed duty with a commitment to safeguarding lives and properties while upholding the rule of law. Addressing journalists at the Police headquarters in Abakaliki on Tuesday, Uche-Anya emphasized her mission to ensure security across the state, calling for the cooperation of all relevant stakeholders.
Upon her arrival, the new CP was welcomed with a guard of honour and proceeded to meet with heads of units within the command. Uche-Anya, who succeeds Augustina Ogbodo, now promoted to Assistant Inspector-General of Police, pledged to work closely with sister security agencies to achieve the mandate given to her by Inspector-General Kayode Egbetokun.
“My priority is the security of lives and properties in Ebonyi State,” Uche-Anya stated. “I call on all stakeholders to join hands with me in maintaining law and order. Security is a shared responsibility, and together we will work to ensure the safety of our communities.”
A highly accomplished officer, Uche-Anya holds master’s degrees in Law and Security & Strategic Studies, and is a fellow of the National Defence College. Before her new appointment, she served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Force Intelligence Department, Abuja. Her vast experience across various commands and formations positions her well to tackle the unique security challenges in Ebonyi.
With a strong focus on collaboration and resource-sharing, Uche-Anya promised that the police in Ebonyi will work tirelessly to ensure the state remains a model of security for the nation.
