Vice President Kashim Shettima has landed in New York to represent Nigeria at the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). His arrival at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Monday was confirmed in a statement by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha. The Vice President was warmly received by key Nigerian officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, and the Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani.

In addition to high-ranking diplomats and UN officials, other members of Nigeria’s delegation, such as Kashifu Inuwa, the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), were also present to welcome him.

President Bola Tinubu, who had initially been expected to attend the assembly, delegated Vice President Shettima to lead the country’s delegation. Shettima is scheduled to deliver Nigeria’s national statement and participate in various high-level meetings during the assembly.
