Folakemi Falana, daughter of renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana, has issued a strong response to allegations of bribery and corruption involving her family, socialite Bobrisky, and her brother, Nigerian artist Falz. The accusations, made by online personality VeryDarkMan (VDM), have sparked controversy, with Folakemi threatening legal action in a statement posted on her Instagram page on Friday.

Folakemi clarified that neither her father nor her brother had any involvement with Bobrisky’s legal troubles, emphasizing that Femi Falana had never met or communicated with the cross-dresser. According to her, Bobrisky had reached out to Falz for financial assistance to secure VIP privileges in prison, not to arrange a presidential pardon as claimed in VDM’s allegations.

Providing further evidence, Folakemi shared documents dating back to 2016 showing that Falana & Falana, her family’s law firm, had been applying for presidential pardons on behalf of Nigerians free of charge. She noted that it is within anyone’s legal right to request a pardon for convicted individuals in Nigeria.

“It’s absurd that people believe these baseless accusations,” Folakemi wrote. “My father has never spoken to Bobrisky, and Falz simply responded to a request for help like many other celebrities. There was no discussion of a pardon, and anyone suggesting otherwise is spreading lies.”

Folakemi also condemned the accusations against Falz, calling them malicious and defamatory. “For someone to accuse Falz of being involved in bribery, corruption, and even labeling him homosexual is ridiculous,” she added, expressing disbelief that some Nigerians had accepted the false claims without question.

She concluded her statement by warning VDM that legal action would follow, saying, “Seeing as you have refused to do the needful, #verydarkblackman, see you in court.”

VDM had previously released audio recordings claiming that Femi Falana had arranged a settlement for ₦10 million to resolve Bobrisky’s case and alleged that Falz was in contact with Bobrisky before his release from prison. Falz has since issued a 24-hour ultimatum to VDM, demanding that the defamatory statements be removed.
