Dutch football legend Marco van Basten has harshly criticized Manchester United, claiming the team lacks standout players capable of winning games. Van Basten’s remarks follow the club’s poor start to the 2024/25 Premier League season, which has seen them win only two of their opening matches.

During an appearance on Ziggo Sport, Van Basten expressed his doubts about the quality of Erik ten Hag’s squad, suggesting that United is missing the kind of top-level talent seen at other major clubs.

“Name me one top player at Manchester United? At every club, you see a top player,” Van Basten remarked. “Rashford is very bad. Bruno Fernandes is a good player, Onana is a good goalkeeper. That’s it.”

The former AC Milan striker went on to criticize key players, stating, “Casemiro is done. Garnacho is a decent player. But nobody carries that team.”

United’s recent 3-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford has plunged them down to 13th place in the Premier League standings, leaving fans and pundits alike questioning the team’s ability to compete at the highest level.

Van Basten’s comments echo growing concerns over the form of players like Marcus Rashford and Casemiro, who have struggled to replicate their past performances.
