Despite the turbulent time inherent in the Nation, the resilience for creativity has continued to flourish among Nigerian creatives as a serving Corps member, in Imo State, Olawiyola Abduquduls Lawal unveiled a compelling play, titled Desperate Chase

The launch ceremony, held on Saturday , October 30,2024 , at the Wheelan Research Academy, Wetheral road ,Owerri witnessed top officials from the academia, government , Association of the Nigerian Authors, Imo State chapter, dignitaries, and fellow Corps members.

The Book Review was handled by the Head of Department Theatre and Performing Arts, Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri, Dr. Kelechi Stellamaris Ogbonna. She praised Abduquduls for his literary input, and revealed that the play is saturated with crime, unveiling realites in the society, cyber crimes, failures in farming system, etc.

Dr. Ogbonna encouraged everyone to read the book for the characters to be active, theatres’ to perform the work on stage to give it life. In conclusion, the reviewer informed the audience that Desperate Chase is meant for the stage, and that it will serve as a valuable resource for secondary school children , to educate a new generation of leaders.

The curator, Nigerian Museum Mr. Chamberlain who also doubled as the Chairman of the occasion and chief launcher praised Lawal for the great deeds which according to him is a testament to a brighter future and calling. While blessing the kola, he educated the audience on the Igbo traditional observation of the market days and made remarkable comments on the title of the book.

The Chairman Association of Nigerian Authors, Imo State Chapter, Mr. Collins Emeghara commended the playwright for his creative input, and identifying with the body.
He encouraged him to keep hope alive as his stories continue to inspire others to embrace the true spirit of national service and creativity.
