A section of the Eleme Local Government Area secretariat in Rivers State has been set on fire, sparking fears of potential violence in the area. The incident occurred shortly after the newly elected chairman, Brain Gokpa, arrived at the secretariat with his councillors and supporters, only to find parts of the building in flames.

Channels Television reported the development following a phone conversation with former Ambassador Oji Ngofa, an Eleme native. While details are still emerging, there is growing concern about the possibility of unrest spreading to other local government areas in Rivers State.
