Tragedy struck along the old Oyo-Ogbomosho Road as four people reportedly lost their lives after a trailer plunged into a ditch on Thursday night. Several others sustained varying degrees of injuries in the accident, which occurred in the Emaayo-Seminary area of Ogbomosho.

The trailer, traveling from Oyo towards Ilorin, encountered a badly damaged portion of the road and veered off, throwing passengers from the vehicle and trapping them beneath the wreckage until Friday morning.

The incident has intensified calls for urgent government intervention to fix the dilapidated Oyo-Ogbomosho Road, which has seen countless accidents due to its poor condition. Locals have expressed frustration over the long-standing neglect of the road, which has been under construction since 2001, leaving travelers vulnerable to fatal incidents like this one.
