The Imo State Police Command has taken decisive action against corruption within its ranks by initiating an orderly room trial for four officers caught in an alleged extortion racket. This move comes after a viral video prompted widespread outcry, leading to the immediate arrest and detention of the implicated officers—Inspectors Ibrahim Nainna, Unaka Maxvirgin, Miller Ibinitta, and Sergeant Antony Alozie. This trial underscores the police department’s renewed commitment to transparency and justice, as stated by the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma.
Concurrently, a comprehensive inspection of police facilities across the state is underway to ensure the rights and welfare of detainees are upheld, marking a significant step in reforming police practices and rebuilding public trust.
