Controversial social media personality and crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been arrested by security operatives while allegedly attempting to flee Nigeria for Benin Republic. The claim was made by activist Martins Ortse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), in a viral video shared on his Instagram page.
VDM alleged that Bobrisky was apprehended at the Seme border by Nigerian Immigration officials early on Monday, as he attempted to escape an ongoing investigation by the House of Representatives. The investigation revolves around serious bribery allegations involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“Bobrisky has been arrested this morning at Seme border while trying to enter BENIN REPUBLIC to escape the current investigation by the house of reps. He is allegedly being held by Nigeria Immigration,” VDM said in the video.
The arrest follows the release of an audio recording by VDM in which Bobrisky was heard allegedly confessing to bribing EFCC officials with ₦15 million. The crossdresser further claimed in the recording that he avoided serving a six-month jail term at Kirikiri prison due to the influence of a powerful godfather. These explosive revelations prompted the House of Representatives to initiate an investigative hearing.
Despite being summoned by the committee, Bobrisky failed to appear, citing health reasons. His failure to attend the hearing raised suspicions and led to speculation that he was attempting to evade accountability.
