Abia State Governor Alex Otti has praised President Bola Tinubu’s recent appointment of Bianca Ojukwu, widow of the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Governor Otti highlighted that Ojukwu’s selection reflects Tinubu’s ambition to broaden Nigeria’s diplomatic influence and open new “progressive frontiers” on the international stage.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Governor Otti described Ojukwu’s appointment as both “excellent and befitting.” He expressed confidence in Ojukwu’s potential to elevate Nigeria’s foreign policy and diplomatic engagements, citing her experience as a former Nigerian Ambassador to Spain and her longstanding commitment to public service.

“Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu’s appointment isn’t just excellent and befitting but one that will bring huge benefits to the nation, especially in the area of foreign policy and diplomatic relationships,” Otti said. “Her experience and unblemished record of excellence in public service promise to positively impact Nigeria’s diplomatic influence, benefiting citizens abroad and strengthening Nigeria’s global ties.”

He assured that the people of Abia State would fully support her in her new role, confident that her values and leadership will positively influence Nigeria’s diplomatic strategies.

The appointment has sparked optimism across political and social circles, with supporters applauding Tinubu’s choice of Ojukwu, who many see as well-suited to bridge gaps in foreign relations and connect with Nigerian communities overseas. Her familiarity with international diplomacy, combined with a strong stance on justice, positions her as a valuable asset in addressing the nation’s complex foreign policy demands.

Governor Otti concluded by affirming that Abia State stands behind Ojukwu’s appointment, expressing his hope that her leadership will foster stronger diplomatic ties and enhance Nigeria’s image abroad.
