The Enugu State Government has acted swiftly in response to the shocking case of child abuse involving Mrs. Ada Ogbogu, who allegedly attacked her three-year-old stepson with a pestle, fracturing his femur. The accused was apprehended on Friday after authorities were tipped off, and she is now in police custody.

According to Mrs. Ngozi Enih, the Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development, the government’s immediate response reflects its dedication to child welfare and zero tolerance for abuse. “This decisive move demonstrates the state government’s commitment to protecting its children and ensuring that such horrific incidents will not be tolerated,” she stated.

The incident was reported via a whistleblower, allowing law enforcement to mobilize quickly. Mrs. Enih revealed that Ogbogu attempted to evade capture but was arrested at the National Orthopaedic Hospital Enugu, where her injured stepson was receiving treatment.
