A shocking case has unfolded in Ofemodoko village, Ogun State, as a hunter identified as Femi was discovered dead with bullet wounds in a nearby forest, sparking fears and suspicions in the community. The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident on Monday, stating that Femi had embarked on a hunting expedition on Friday with another hunter known as Taoreed, popularly referred to as Kokoro. However, Femi failed to return, prompting a community-led search that ended in tragedy.

According to Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola, Femi’s wife, Grace James, reported his absence after he didn’t come home. Responding to her distress, the village head mobilized local hunters for a search. They found Femi’s lifeless body in the forest, riddled with bullet wounds and with his gun lying beside him. The discovery has left the community in shock, as villagers grapple with the disturbing circumstances surrounding his death.

“On 26/10/2024, Grace James, Femi’s wife, reported her husband missing to the police,” Odutola said. “By early morning, a community search led to the discovery of his body. Bullet wounds were visible on his back, and his weapon was found next to him.” Odutola added that the corpse was moved to the State Hospital in Ijebu-Ode for an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.

While investigations continue, the police revealed a significant development: Femi’s hunting companion, Taoreed, has vanished from the village along with his wife and children. This disappearance has raised suspicions and added an unsettling layer to the case. Authorities are now working to trace Taoreed’s whereabouts, believing he may hold crucial information.
