Popular Nigerian crossdresser Bobrisky has shed light on his recent departure from Nigeria, stating that he left the country temporarily to preserve his “sanity and health” after a series of run-ins with Nigerian security agencies. This comes shortly after his release from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), who detained him twice within a short period.
Bobrisky, whose real name is Idris Okuneye, took to Instagram on Monday to explain his reasons for leaving Nigeria. He emphasized that the decision was necessary due to what he described as frustrating experiences with security agencies attempting to “frustrate” him.
“Yes, I’m here to confirm I’m out of Nigeria temporarily. I need to attend to my sanity and my health,” Bobrisky wrote, hinting at the toll recent events have taken on him. He added, “Few Nigerian security agencies tried everything to frustrate me, but naaa, I gat God.”
Bobrisky also recounted the financial burden associated with his attempts to leave the country, revealing that he had to purchase three business class tickets, with only one being successfully used. He noted that each ticket cost him approximately ₦9.8 million, expressing hope for a refund on the two unused tickets from KLM, the airline he flew with.
The crossdresser shared the exact date of his successful departure as November 3, 2024, after previous failed attempts, which he hinted were due to the scrutiny he faced from local authorities.
