Nigerian actress and skit maker Kemi Ikuseedun, widely known as Mummy Wa, has shared a deeply personal account of facing persistent sexual harassment in the Nigerian film industry. During an emotional interview on the WithChude podcast hosted by Chude Jideonwo, Mummy Wa disclosed the pressures and unsolicited advances she encountered from filmmakers as she fought to build her career.

Kemi, who rose to fame through her roles in Mr. Macaroni’s skits, highlighted the grim reality for many women in Nollywood: sexual harassment is an ever-present obstacle. Reflecting on her experience, she described the numerous requests made by individuals behind the scenes, emphasizing that “no woman is free” from such harassment in the industry.

“People ask for things I cannot and will not do,” she revealed. “I come from a place where I’m already told, ‘this won’t work.’ So how many people am I supposed to sleep with? Even when someone goes along with it, it doesn’t guarantee success.”
