A 55-year-old man, Olubunmi Johnson, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police for allegedly setting his wife, Kikelomo, on fire after a domestic disagreement. The incident, which took place around 8:30 pm on Friday in their home on Fagbuyi Street, Ilogbo, left the community in shock and has sparked renewed calls for awareness around domestic violence.

According to Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola, the command was alerted to the incident by concerned family members who reported that Kikelomo was severely injured. Reports indicate that following an argument, Johnson allegedly doused his wife in petrol and ignited her clothing, leaving her with severe burns. Witnesses at the scene rushed Kikelomo to the hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.

Odutola confirmed that police officers from the Ilogbo Division responded promptly, arresting Johnson and placing him in detention while the case is being investigated as attempted murder.
