Two Nigerian referees, Kazzim Abiola and Samuel Pwadutakam, have been selected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to join a crucial pre-competition training session in Cairo, Egypt, as part of preparations for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN). This training, scheduled for December 4-9, is designed to update African referees with the latest in officiating rules and technology, providing a final evaluation for those chosen to officiate at CHAN.

Abiola, a FIFA-badged referee from Zamfara with a record of officiating in several top-tier African competitions, will be a lead referee in the programme. Pwadutakam, representing Adamawa, has been selected in the assistant referee category, marking his second major international assignment under CAF’s purview.

The training will serve as an intensive refresher, equipping participants to handle high-stakes scenarios and ensuring uniformity in officiating standards across the continent. By honing in on the latest rules and practical skills, CAF aims to maintain integrity and professionalism in African football’s premier competitions.
