Former Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke has filed a motion to amend her suit challenging the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) order for the final forfeiture of her seized assets.

During the resumed hearing at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday, her counsel informed Justice Inyang Ekwo that they had filed a motion to amend their processes and confirmed that the EFCC had been duly served. However, no counsel appeared in court to represent the anti-graft agency.

Justice Ekwo adjourned the case to February 17, 2025, to hear the motion for amendment.

Alison-Madueke is contesting the EFCC’s public notice for the sale of her seized properties, alleging that she was denied a fair hearing during the proceedings that led to the forfeiture order. She has also requested an extension of time to apply for an order to set aside the commission’s notice of sale.

The EFCC, in its response, dismissed most of Alison-Madueke’s claims, stating that the cases leading to the forfeiture were heard and determined by the court, contrary to her allegations.

The case continues to draw public interest as Alison-Madueke, who served as minister from 2010 to 2015, remains a central figure in Nigeria’s anti-corruption efforts.
