Former bread seller turned model, Olajumoke Orisaguna, popularly known as Olajumoke Onibread, has accused her ex-husband, Sunday Orisaguna, of assault and being a major factor in the decline of her career.
In an interview with City FM, the 2016 viral sensation shared her harrowing experience with domestic violence and the challenges she faced in her marriage.
Olajumoke recounted how her ex-husband often sided with his family, particularly his mother, and subjected her to physical abuse over domestic disputes.
She said, “Whenever I had misunderstandings with his mother, he would beat me to the extent that my face and body would be swollen. Sometimes he would even use a belt. I hid it because I didn’t want my mother to hear.”
Olajumoke revealed that her struggles began early in their relationship, which was marked by opposition from her family. She endured hostility from her mother-in-law and was forced to close her hairdressing shop early to perform household duties.
She described the breaking point in January 2016 when she moved to Lagos with her two children after another violent incident during a family gathering.
“I decided I was going to leave after he beat me up again. I packed my things and took my children with me to Lagos. My friend, who had warned me about him, supported my decision,” she said.
However, the separation led to more challenges. Olajumoke alleged that her ex-husband began spreading false stories about her, tarnishing her reputation and career.
“Everything started going down the drain after the separation because he started spoiling my name. Since then, things started going down,” she added.
Olajumoke shot to fame in 2016 when she accidentally walked into a photoshoot featuring British rapper Tinie Tempah, captured by renowned photographer TY Bello. The incident transformed her life, catapulting her into the modeling spotlight.
Her story of resilience, from a bakery worker to a model, inspired many. However, her recent revelations highlight the unseen struggles she endured behind the scenes.
