Shooting Stars’ head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, has called for fair officiating in their highly anticipated South West derby clash against Remo Stars on Wednesday. The match, set to take place at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, carries high stakes as both teams vie for dominance in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Ogunbote expressed optimism about his team’s chances but stressed the importance of unbiased officiating to ensure a fair contest. “We will play our game and hope to get the desired result. All we ask for is a level playing ground,” Ogunbote stated ahead of the encounter.

The Ibadan-based club has struggled against their Ikenne rivals, losing all previous meetings at Remo Stars’ home turf. However, with Shooting Stars coming off a 1-0 victory over Bayelsa United last Sunday, Ogunbote is confident his side can turn the tide.

For Remo Stars, the derby is a must-win after surrendering their top spot to Rivers United following a 2-0 defeat against Katsina United last weekend. The team will be aiming to reclaim momentum and secure crucial points to stay in contention.

The derby promises to be a fiery encounter, with both teams under pressure to deliver a standout performance in one of the NPFL’s fiercest regional rivalries.
