Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has attributed his team’s 2-0 defeat to Arsenal on Wednesday night to defensive lapses during set-pieces. The match, held at the Emirates Stadium, saw Arsenal’s Jurrien Timber and William Saliba score from corner-kicks, handing Amorim his first loss as United’s manager.

Speaking after the game, Amorim acknowledged the Gunners’ organization and highlighted his team’s lack of aggression. “The set-pieces changed the game,” Amorim told Match of the Day. “We could’ve been more aggressive towards the Arsenal box. Until the set pieces, the game didn’t have too many opportunities for both sides.”

Amorim praised his players’ overall commitment but noted the difficulty of breaking through Arsenal’s defensive structure. “We were committed and we lost to the set-pieces. They are a very organized team, and it’s hard to score,” he added.
