Nollywood star Nonso Diobi has shared how his striking resemblance to veteran actress Hilda Dokubo secured him his first major role in the Nigerian movie industry. Speaking on the Nollywood Hardcore podcast, Diobi recounted how the iconic actress spotted him at an audition and convinced the director to cast him as her brother in the film.
“I was at an audition, and people started calling me from afar. Hilda Dokubo said, ‘This young boy looks like me. He can play my brother,’” Diobi revealed.
This unexpected opportunity came after three years and over 1,000 auditions. Remarkably, Diobi didn’t even need to audition for the role that marked the beginning of his Nollywood journey.
