Nigerian football shines brightly in the 2024 CAF Women’s Awards nominations as players, teams, and coaches from the nation secure key spots in multiple categories, further affirming the country’s prominence in African women’s football.
Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie leads the charge with double nominations for Women’s Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year. Competing alongside top talents like Zambia’s Barbra Banda and Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi, Nnadozie continues to solidify her reputation as one of the continent’s best.
Rising star Chiamaka Okwuchukwu of Rivers Angels is nominated for Young Player of the Year, while the Super Falcons eye the Women’s National Team of the Year award. Edo Queens, reigning Nigerian Women’s League champions, are shortlisted for Women’s Club of the Year, adding to Nigeria’s impressive representation.
Coach Chris Danjuma also earns a nomination for Women’s Coach of the Year, recognizing his contributions to Nigeria’s U-20 team.
The winners will be determined through votes from the CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, and other stakeholders, with the awards ceremony set for December 16, 2024, in Marrakech, Morocco.
