Popular Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma has voiced his disapproval of corporal punishment, stating that children do not deserve to be beaten as a form of correction.

Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, Bovi questioned the intent behind hitting children, suggesting it often stems from frustration rather than a desire for correction.

“I don’t advocate for beating children. You should let children be. When you hit a kid, are you really trying to correct them or are you frustrated?” the comedian queried.

Bovi further condemned the culture of senior students punishing their juniors in primary and secondary schools, calling for an end to the practice. “No child should be given authority over another child in the name of ‘senior student’. It really has to stop,” he declared.

His comments have sparked discussions across social media, with many echoing his sentiments while others defend corporal punishment as a cultural norm in child discipline.
