Nigerian music superstar Tiwa Savage has opened up about her divorce from ex-husband Tunji Balogun, popularly known as TeeBillz, shedding light on the emotional toll it took on her. Speaking on The Receipts Podcast, Tiwa revealed that TeeBillz announced their separation online in 2018 while she was battling postpartum depression.

“The way our situation happened, he announced it online. I did not break up with him, but I was the one being attacked,” Tiwa said. “My baby was just a few months old at that time. My body wasn’t the same because I was dealing with postpartum and depression. Only a few people came to see me. Everyone went to him.”

She expressed heartbreak over the public backlash she faced, with many blaming her for the marriage’s failure. Tiwa said she was criticized for speaking about her side of the story in an interview, as societal norms expected her to remain silent and “build the house.”
