Shehu Gabam, the National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has suggested that President Bola Tinubu may face significant challenges in securing a second term if his administration continues to face issues within its first two years.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Gabam drew parallels with former President Goodluck Jonathan, whose administration encountered fierce opposition early in his tenure and eventually lost the 2015 elections.

“No president elected for four years and faces significant issues within the first two years has survived a second term,” Gabam remarked.

The SDP chairman criticized Tinubu’s cabinet, stating that the ministers lack the capacity to deliver on the president’s vision. Gabam also highlighted the unprecedented economic hardship Nigerians are experiencing under the current administration, which he believes could further erode public trust and support for Tinubu’s leadership.

As the administration grapples with these challenges, Gabam’s comments underscore the mounting political and economic pressures that could shape the run-up to the 2027 elections.
