An 82-year-old man, Muritala Raimi, who was reported missing earlier in the week, has been found dead in Lukaran Forest, Atikori, Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State.
Raimi, a resident of Ilero Village in Atikori, was declared missing on Wednesday by his relatives, Jimoh Salau and Muibi Popoola, at the Ijebu-Igbo Police Division. According to the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, extensive searches by family members yielded no results until a hunter discovered the octogenarian’s decomposing body in the forest on Thursday.
“Efforts are ongoing to recover the decomposing corpse while investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death have commenced,” Odutola stated.
The incident has raised concerns in the local community, with police assuring residents of a thorough investigation to uncover the cause of death.
