The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has summoned Subomi and Wahab Okoya, sons of billionaire businessman Razaq Okoya, for questioning following a viral video allegedly showing them abusing the naira.
The video, which sparked public outrage, also featured a police officer now in custody after being identified and detained by the Nigeria Police Force.
Prominent activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju criticized the delay in action against the brothers, accusing the authorities of operating “two laws — one for the poor and the other for the rich.”
The EFCC invitation, signed by Michael Wetkas, acting director of the Lagos Directorate, directs the Okoya brothers to appear before the agency’s Special Operations team at their Ikoyi office on Monday, January 13, 2025, for interrogation.
This development follows mounting pressure on social media for equal enforcement of the law.
