Nollywood actress and producer Funke Akindele has responded to criticism from a social media user who questioned her decision to wear a ring on her “marriage finger” despite being divorced. The concerned netizen, identified as @OriretanHonour on X (formerly Twitter), suggested that her choice could deter potential suitors and advised her to remove the ring for better prospects.

“Funke, it’s unwise to still wear a ring on your marriage finger knowing you’re divorced. Even worse, it might chase away your future husband. Little things count now that you’re still famous, hot, and rich. Mind your public acts. Remove the ring now. You need a man in your life ASAP. Act fast. Be wise,” the user wrote.

In her characteristic bold style, Akindele dismissed the unsolicited advice, emphasizing that her primary focus is on building financial stability. “I need money! That’s the koko,” she replied, using the Nigerian slang “koko” to stress the importance of wealth over societal expectations.

Akindele, who has been divorced twice, has consistently maintained her confidence and resilience. Her first marriage to Kehinde Oloyede in 2012 ended in 2013 due to irreconcilable differences. Her second marriage to music producer JJC Skillz ended in 2022, although the couple welcomed twins during their union.

In a candid interview with Wazobia FM last year, Akindele addressed her marital history, asserting that being divorced twice does not define her as a failure. Her stance has continued to inspire fans who admire her for prioritizing her personal goals and independence.

The actress’s response has reignited conversations on societal expectations for women, particularly divorced women, and how celebrities navigate public scrutiny. Akindele’s focus on financial empowerment instead of conforming to traditional pressures has resonated with many of her fans and supporters.
