Nigerian rapper Speed Darlington narrowly escaped an assassination attempt in Lagos on Monday, just days after his release from prolonged detention at Kuje prison.
In a video posted on his Instagram page, the controversial artist revealed that his car was riddled with bullet holes following an attack by unknown gunmen. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday while he was leaving a club in the Victoria Island area of Lagos.
Darlington accused an unnamed individual, whom he referred to as “long face,” of orchestrating the attack, expressing shock over the attempt on his life. “Long face sent killers my way, and I have not even posted anything. Bro, is this necessary? You tried to take my life. Really?” he said in the video, which also displayed the bullet-ridden rear of his vehicle.
The attack has sparked widespread concern among his fans and followers, with many urging him to prioritize his safety.
This incident comes on the heels of Darlington’s recent controversies, including allegations of cyberstalking and public clashes with music icon Burna Boy.
