A Nasarawa State High Court has remanded Timilehin Ajayi at the Lafia Custodial Centre over the alleged murder of his 24-year-old girlfriend, Salome Enejo, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Ajayi appeared before Justice Simon Aboki on Monday, facing a charge of culpable homicide under Section 221 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria, which carries a death penalty upon conviction. The state counsel, Stanley Ifeanyi, informed the court of the severity of the crime, alleging that Ajayi intentionally took Enejo’s life.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. Justice Aboki, acknowledging the case’s sensitive nature, pledged to prioritize its proceedings for swift justice. The hearing has been adjourned to March 17, 2025.
