Tems clinched the Best African Music Performance award with her hit single “Love Me Jeje,” surpassing strong contenders including Yemi Alade’s “Tomorrow,” Asake and Wizkid’s “MMS,” Chris Brown’s “Sensational” featuring Davido and Lojay, and Burna Boy’s “Higher.”
Despite being nominated in the same category, Davido showcased commendable sportsmanship by congratulating Tems on social media. He expressed his pride, stating, “Congratulations to my one and only! @chrisbrown! And to the Queen @temsbaby we are proud of you!”
“Love Me Jeje,” released in April 2024, is a reimagined rendition of Seyi Sodimu’s 1997 classic. The track has garnered international acclaim for its innovative fusion of Afrobeats and R&B, further cementing Tems’ position in the global music scene.
This achievement marks Tems’ second Grammy win, following her 2023 award for Best Melodic Rap Performance for her collaboration on Future’s “Wait for U” featuring Drake.
