Enyimba FC’s technical adviser, Stanley Eguma, has expressed optimism about his team’s resurgence in the second half of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season after securing a crucial 1-0 victory against Lobi Stars on Monday.

The nine-time NPFL champions ended their six-match winless streak across all competitions, thanks to Ifeanyi Ihemekwele’s decisive goal, scored five minutes before halftime.

Eguma, who recently took charge of The People’s Elephant, emphasized that his tactical philosophy is beginning to take shape, with the players gradually adapting to his style of play.

“It’s a good performance and a good result. We drew at home, and now we’ve won away,” Eguma stated after the match.

“I joined this team recently, and the players are gradually understanding my philosophy, just as I am getting to know them better. This growing understanding is the reason we got this result.”

Despite the much-needed win, the Enyimba coach remains cautious, acknowledging that their position on the league table is still a concern.

“We’re gradually putting our first-round struggles behind us, but we’re still worried about our position in the league table. Our focus is to improve our standing.”

Enyimba will aim to build on this momentum when they face Akwa United at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Sunday.
