The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has firmly opposed the House of Representatives Committee on Constitution Review’s recent proposal to create 31 new states, including five in the South-East. The youth wing contends that this plan exacerbates the region’s longstanding marginalization.

National President Mazi Okwu Nnabuike expressed dismay, highlighting that while other regions currently have six or seven states, the South-East remains with only five. He emphasized that the proposal fails to address this disparity, instead offering an equal number of new states to regions already advantaged.
