Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone, has described Barcelona as the best team in LaLiga, citing their attacking strength, speed, and collective playstyle. His comments came after Atletico’s intense 1-1 draw against Real Madrid in the Madrid derby on Saturday night at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The hard-fought encounter saw Julian Alvarez give Atletico the lead with a first-half penalty before Kylian Mbappé equalized for Real Madrid in the second half, ensuring both sides shared the spoils.
“I still insist that Barcelona is the best team in La Liga,” Simeone remarked during his post-match press conference. “They attack very well, they have incredible speed in their players, and they play very well as a team.”
With the LaLiga title race heating up, Real Madrid currently tops the table with 50 points, just one point ahead of Atletico Madrid (49). Barcelona sits in third with 45 points but has a game in hand, giving them a chance to close the gap.
Simeone added, “Let’s see if they win tomorrow. It’ll be fun to see the journalists enjoy this tight race at the top.”
The Madrid derby result keeps the race wide open, with each of the top three teams still in contention for the title as the season progresses.
