Russia has dismissed allegations that its military forces attacked Ukraine’s Chornobyl nuclear power plant, calling the claims a provocation orchestrated by Kyiv.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, in a statement on Friday, refuted reports suggesting that Russian forces had damaged the containment shelter at the defunct nuclear facility. He insisted that Moscow does not target nuclear infrastructure, describing the accusation as another attempt by Ukraine to mislead the international community.

“The Russian military doesn’t do that. They don’t. This is most likely just another provocation. That’s exactly what the Kyiv regime likes to do and sometimes, in fact, does not shy away from doing,” Peskov stated.
