A raging fire tore through Satigal Community in Bunkure Local Government Area of Kano State on Tuesday night, reducing houses, six grain silos, and valuable property to ashes. The disaster, which also claimed cattle and personal belongings worth millions of naira, has left several families displaced.
According to the Rano Zonal Information Officer, Rabiu Khalil Kura, the tragic incident was reported to the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Muhammad Isa Umaru, by the Village Head, Malam Shuaibu Abdu. The fire, allegedly caused by an unattended cooking flame, quickly spread, consuming six households and their stored goods.
The Emir of Rano, who expressed deep sympathy for the affected families, personally donated ₦200,000 to provide immediate relief and pledged to escalate the matter to the Kano State Emergency Relief Management Agency for further assistance. He also urged residents to be more cautious, emphasizing the importance of properly extinguishing cooking fires to prevent future tragedies.
However, the Kano State Fire Service Public Relations Officer, Saminu Abdullahi, stated that the agency had not yet received an official report on the incident.
