Nigerian music sensations Wizkid and Davido have once again elevated Afrobeats on the global stage with their remarkable wins at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards. The 56th edition of the prestigious event, held on February 20, 2025, celebrated outstanding achievements in arts and entertainment by people of color.

Wizkid secured the award for Outstanding Duo, Group, or Collaboration (Contemporary) for his chart-topping track “Piece of My Heart,” featuring American singer Brent Faiyaz. This accolade marks Wizkid’s sixth NAACP Image Award, solidifying his status as Nigeria’s most awarded artist in the history of the event. “Piece of My Heart,” a standout from his sixth studio album “Morayo,” has garnered international acclaim and set streaming records upon its release.

Davido was honored with the Outstanding International Song award for his collaboration with Chris Brown on the hit single “Hmmm.” This achievement underscores Davido’s consistent ability to blend Afrobeats with global sounds, further expanding the genre’s reach. Notably, this is Davido’s third NAACP Image Award, reflecting his enduring influence and success on the international music scene.

The 2025 NAACP Image Awards also recognized other prominent artists. Beyoncé added two more trophies to her collection, winning Outstanding Female Artist and Outstanding Album for her groundbreaking country project “Cowboy Carter.” Kendrick Lamar took home the award for Outstanding Hip-Hop/Rap Song with his viral hit “Not Like Us,” while rising star Doechii was named Outstanding New Artist.
