Veteran Nollywood actress Morenike Alausa, popularly known as Mama Ereko, has opened up about why she chose to remain single after the death of her husband, stating that marriage accelerates aging in women.

At 79 years old, Mama Ereko still radiates elegance and vitality, and she credits her youthful looks to staying away from marriage and its demands.

Speaking in an interview on Talk2Dunnis TV, the actress emphasized the emotional, physical, and sexual stress that comes with marriage, suggesting that it takes a toll on women’s health and appearance.

She further revealed that she has completely moved past the idea of relationships.

“I didn’t remarry because the stress of intercourse makes people look older than their age. I don’t need a man again because I have already turned into a man. I can’t even remember how it feels to have sex anymore.”

Her remarks have sparked heated debates online, with some agreeing that marriage can be stressful for women, while others argue that a healthy relationship does not diminish a person’s well-being.
