Former Super Eagles striker Julius Aghahowa has thrown his full support behind Nigeria’s national team, expressing confidence that they will defeat Rwanda in their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

With three draws and one defeat, Nigeria sits in a precarious position in Group C, making victory against the Amavubi of Rwanda a must-win to keep their World Cup hopes alive.

The East Africans shocked the Super Eagles with a 2-1 victory in Uyo during a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, but Aghahowa believes this time will be different—if the players approach the game with the right mindset.

“I am confident if they go into the game with the right mentality, they will win in Rwanda,” he told SCORENigeria.

Aghahowa further urged the players to take national team duties more seriously, stating that some of them treat it like a vacation rather than a mission.

“Some of them see playing for the Super Eagles as a holiday, but if they gave 120% for Nigeria, we will get the result we need.”

With talent never in doubt, the Super Eagles must now prove their resilience as they prepare for this decisive encounter.
